We’ve led the water-conservation conversation since the days of bell-bottoms and avocado-green bathroom fixtures. So, when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the WaterSense® program in 2006, we quickly signed on to help give consumers simple ways to reduce water use.
In 2007, the first WaterSense-labeled KOHLER® products hit store shelves. Since then, those products have saved over 560 billion gallons of water, 12.8 million metric tons of avoided (CO²) emissions and $8.3 billion in water and energy costs.
In 2008, we were honored with our first WaterSense Partner of the Year Award. We’ve been honored for 14 years, moving from Partner of the Year to earning the Sustained Excellence Award.
“As part of Kohler’s Better Planet strategy, we’re not only committed to developing environmentally friendly products, but also to educating consumers on saving water. Innovating plumbing products in the water efficiency space is essential for the health and safety of our customers and protecting the environment,” said Ratish Namboothiry, Director of Sustainability and Innovation for Good at Kohler Co. “For over a decade, Kohler has embraced the WaterSense program. It has made a tremendous impact in how we make progress through Kohler’s new product development process, as well as build awareness among our customers and partners so they can also be good stewards of a better planet.” The WaterSense label is assigned to a product after the product is third-party certified for meeting EPA guidelines. For example, a showerhead must exhibit a 2.0 gallons per minute (gpm) or less flow rate, 1.5 gpm or less for a bathroom faucet.
Today, consumers can choose from more than 800 KOHLER products that use less water but still deliver the operational superiority they expect from our brand.
