These efforts were recently recognized by Fast Company for their 2022 Innovation by Design Awards, where Kohler was recognized across six categories, including an honorable mention in the Design Company of the Year category. Companies listed in this category were chosen because of their commitment to innovative design and the quality, breadth, and ambition in this space.

The Abstra™ Collection by KOHLER WasteLAB led the recognitions for Kohler with four total recognitions. It was named as the overall winner of the Materials category and received honorable mentions for Circular Design, General Excellence, and Sustainability. Made from more than 99.5% recycled materials, the collection features handcrafted tile patterns in a range of colors that can be laid in myriad ways for a custom effect allowing architects, designers, and end users to purchase sustainably without sacrificing beauty or functionality.

Additionally, Rock.01, a one-of-a-kind limited-edition 3D-printed sink designed in collaboration with contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, was named as a finalist in the Home category. Kohler’s revolutionary method of 3D-printing vitreous china is at the forefront of innovation in the industry, and it was this technology that allowed Arsham to produce his design, which was too complex for traditional methods.
