Focus on the end goals.

If we’re going to make an impact on global sustainability, we're going to do so by partnering with like-minded organizations and aligning with larger efforts. One such effort is being led by the United Nations as part of an initiative to end poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change.

In September 2015, the United Nations introduced a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) to achieve by 2030. The UNSDGs help countries simultaneously reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development that leads to transformational change, bringing about real improvements in people's lives. The goals call for action by all countries, citizens and businesses to promote prosperity while protecting the planet.

So where does Kohler fit?

Many of the UNSDGs align with Kohler's existing sustainability strategy and we’ve identified three goals that directly relate to KOHLER® products and align with our company mission of gracious living:
 
UNSDG #6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
UNSDG #7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainableand modern energy for all.
UNSDG #12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

The UNSDGs provide a framework for governments, humanitarian organizations and business to align in solving common goals. Our Innovation for Good retreats focus on brainstorming and building on ideas that support the UNSDGs.
