Approximately 2.2 billion people lack access to safe water worldwide. Women and girls literally carry the bulk of this burden, walking an average of 6 kilometers to collect water not only to drink but also to cook, bathe, and wash dishes and clothing. Kohler is working with humanitarian partners to help change that through a global program called Safe Water for All.

The annual Kohler Run/Walk for Safe Water is one of the many ways we engage our associates and individuals around the world who are passionate about safe water as a human right. So, we invite you to lace up your running shoes and join thousands of fellow participants in our month-long run/walk challenge from September 1 to 30, 2022.

Building on Past Success

Together, every step counts! Last year Kohler associates and participants around the globe logged an impressive 8.3 million kilometers with a $200,000 donation from Kohler Co. to safe water projects. This year we are increasing our impact and goal to 8.4 million kilometers logged in the month of September with a $300,000 donation from Kohler Co. to safe water projects around the globe.

Working with humanitarian partners, we are able to execute site-specific projects:

  • Installing handwashing stations in schools with local NGOs in India and China
  • Completing water-impact projects in China and Southeast Asia with World Vision, as well as drinking water filtration kiosks in India alongside local partners.
  • Addressing access to safe water for landslide victims in Honduras’ Opalaca reserve with Water Mission
  • Supporting microgrants to benefit community-led water access projects on the Navajo Nation in the United States.

This year’s Run/Walk for Safe Water will allow us to continue projects like these and our commitment of partnering and innovation to develop scalable solutions to the world's most pressing challenges.

Since the first global safe water stewardship activities were piloted in 2016, Kohler’s efforts have impacted 1.8 million lives and counting.

More Ways to Help

The magnitude of the safe water crisis is too large for any individual, organization, or business to impact on its own. This crisis affects communities everywhere in the world—urban and rural communities in both wealthy and developing countries. Kohler is proud to partner with humanitarian organizations that prioritize solving the safe water issue.

You can learn more about the global water crisis or donate to safe water initiatives currently underway here. We are grateful for the passion of people like you all around the world who give their time and energy to make a positive impact.
