Every year, Kohler Mira chooses a nonprofit organization to be the focus of its stewardship efforts. In 2017, that nonprofit was "charity: water," which is dedicated to providing clean water, primarily through the building of wells, around the world.

"Since choosing this charity, we've been sharing charity: water's fantastic story with our associates via a 7-minute-long virtual reality experience," said Mellissa McClymont, Internal Communications. "This inspirational experience instantly captured the hearts of our entire business and has been the catalyst for starting our fundraising activity."

Liz Hazeldene, managing director for Kohler Mira, said: “Charity is such a huge part of our company ethos. Charity: water is extremely close to everyone's hearts here, and we are delighted with the results of our fundraising efforts last year.”

In October, a group of associates took a 20-mile walk to raise awareness and funds for the millions of people who walk that distance every day to collect water. Around the world, walking to and from a water source for hours every day keeps people, mainly women and children, from attending school or earning money.

The Marketing team's goal is to raise enough funds themselves to dig a well on behalf of a colleague who is battling cancer. It costs about £7,500 for charity: water to build a well to supply a village with water for life.

A member of the marketing team explained the goal, "We want something positive to come from her experience. We were blown away by the simple ability of a well to transform lives and, after all, water is what we're all about at Kohler Mira."

The yearlong partnership with charity: water resulted in an impressive £58,300 donation which will fund clean water projects over the next two years. Keeping the momentum going, associates voted for Make-A-Wish Foundation to be their next Kohler Stewardship fundraising partner and are already planning activities—including a sky dive for some brave associates.
