We are working to reduce the environmental impact of our operations and help our customers reduce their own impacts. We regularly track performance data to measure progress toward reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, waste to landfill, as well as energy, fuel, and water use.
At Kohler, we believe that responsible waste management is crucial for the health of our planet and the well-being of future generations. Through continuous improvement projects and innovative waste-diversion strategies, we aim to minimize our impact on the environment, conserve natural resources, and promote a circular economy.
Since 2008 Kohler has decreased operational net waste intensity by 55%.
Since 2019 100% of the electricity of our U.S. and Canada operations has come from renewable sources. This includes power purchased from Enel Green Power’s wind farms in Kansas, known as the Diamond Vista project. Over the course of 2024, 380 million kWh of electricity used in our U.S. operations came from solar and wind generation. Kohler was ranked 50th on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership list of largest consumers of renewable power in 2024.
Since 2008 Kohler has collected data and reported on metrics for Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and we’ve reduced our global net GHG emissions intensity by 64%. Using a carbon profitability index that embeds the price of carbon into capital-planning decisions, we factor potential Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions into decisions on investments in new capital projects.
Our associates innovate and lead projects to make a positive impact around the world, from conserving water and reducing emissions and waste to supporting local organizations.
